The chapter changed survey forms in 2024
Context Since 2024 the chapter has also used the Virginia form, which the Hub's own site page does not chart.
The Virginia Save Our Streams form scores 0 to 12 and rates a stream Acceptable (9 and up), Gray Zone (8) or Unacceptable (7 and below). It also counts every animal, which allows diversity measures.

The two scales cannot be compared directly. One survey was scored on both forms the same day, a first calibration point. The share of sensitive groups found works on both forms, which is why the model and trend tests use it.
